I bought 3 pounds of pig brain from the Asian supermarket (apparently, normal butchershops don't carry them.)

GamePro Quarterly Winter 2011

I figure it wouldn't be kosher to upload all of the stuff I wanted from GamePro's first, last, and only high-production Quarterly issue. Instead, here's a bit of a moodboard collage of the different bits and bobs from the issue, along with this PDF of the Table of Contents.

Bitmob (prototype)

www.bitmob.com

Despite Bitmob's bloggy exterior, I really think of Bitmob as a service in the age of new media. Aspiring game journalists and writers get to make their work noticed -- with guidance provided by some of the most influential editors in the industry. This current design shows the alpha live version- a simple prototype to gauge interest and activity.

PlayFirst Redesign

www.playfirst.com

PlayFirst.com, like an adolescent but with fewer blackheads, is blossoming into something that's more comfortable in its own skin. Rather than struggling with maintaining numerous site features, we chose to focus more on the website's e-commerce functionality. I did a lot of research on buying behavior, data analysis, and browsing psychology to back up design and feature decisions.

Jr. Doctor & Jr. Vet

When I was 18, two peers and I decided to make a nifty children’s game and we came up with Jr. Doctor. To be honest, none of us knew how to make games, let alone design them. (Coffee helped a lot.) So after a few hit and misses, we finally put out Jr. Doctor, a fun puzzle-solving adventure where you have to help fairytale and nursery rhyme characters with their appropriate ailments.

GameTab Metrics

Perhaps the coolest project I've worked (even though at first glance, it seems like yawn-worthy data dribble)! GameTab Metrics is a site tool that tracks and presents quantitative overview of qualitative data of all the activity within 1UP.com. Previews, reviews, blogs, comments, forum posts, ratings; industry professionals are able to look at segmented user data and feedback for specific game titles.

Americurry

Japanese curry rice is one of the best things to eat, ever. But in America, even in diverse metropolitan areas, it can be almost impossible to find good curry. My pal and I decided to create an online destination chronicling the quest of finding the best Japanese curry in America. In addition to designing and running the site, my crowning achievement was incorporating rich features like rating and geo-tagging.

1UP Cover Stories

As the print industry downsizes, how do we translate that magazine feel on an online space? 1UP Cover Story was an experiment of marrying those two aspects together-- we combined the exclusivity of print coverage with dynamic web content. Everyday during "cover story week," a special written feature (usually paired with video or exclusive art) is unlocked so we get to build anticipation and keep fans coming back every day for the rest of the week.
